Earth Hour 2009 – Vote for Earth

This year, Earth Hour has been transformed into the world’s first global election, between Earth and global warming.

In December 2009 world leaders meet in Copenhagen to agree on a post-Kyoto policy for tackling climate change. One billion people voting with their light switch during Earth Hour will create a powerful mandate for our leaders to take strong and decisive action on climate change in Copenhagen.

My country, Greece will participate with many cities in Earth Hour. I will participate in this event because I want to vote for Earth. Come and join us!

Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour.

In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in darkness.

In 2009, Earth Hour is being taken to the next level, with the goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. Until now 2398 cities and towns announce that will participate in Earth Hour.

Come with us, it’s not difficult. On March 28 just switching off your lights from 8:30pm until 9:30 pm. Send the message and spead the world…
