My greens are growing
My container garden for autumn growing nicely and I like it very much.

It’s the second year I try to grow green onions from small onions and I harverst the first green fresh onions already. Maybe some time in the future I will try to grow onions from seeds.

And except green salads and green onions I also have small green tomatoes in my containers. The weather is good so I think I will have more Yellow Pear tomatoes to harvest the next days.

It’s strange but more flowers give me tomatoes now than summer.

If you like green onions for eating raw, I have a very nice onion that I could send you next year. I just ran out of it a few weeks ago.
Actually, I have two kinds, both perennial onions meaning they just keep growing as long as you don’t dig them up. One is called the Amish onion, and the other the Egyptian Walking Onion (really from Iran, and in the UK it’s called a tree onion).
Mostly you eat the green part raw, it loses it’s flavor when you cook it, but if you want you can also dig the whole onion up and eat it too. The green part tastes really good, much better than normal onion greens. It grows very well in containers, and I have some growing on my roof.
Frost will kill the tops of the plants, but they grow back in the spring. Every year in the middle of the summer, the plants form topsets that you can replant for more onions or send to other people in the mail. The plants also sometimes divide at the roots.
I too grow green onions from small ones. It works very well. Those little tomatoes have been very successful for you.
Also – I have posted the bean seeds to you. Hope they arrive ok.
@Patrick thank you very much but I think I must search here for greek onion varieties first. I am sure we have many heirloom onions and I must found them.
@easygardener I think many people love fresh green onions
I receive your seeds yesterday, thank you very much!
I still did not learn how to make Greek Onions from the website. You see I am doing a project and I need to learn how to grow them so I am very dispointed with this website.Boooooooooooooo!
Marta the truth is that I never plant green onions, you can’t find in my country onions hmmm seedlings. We just plant small onions for fresh green onions.
But I don’t thing it’s a problem. Make a hole in soil and plant them 6-7 cm in depth
I bought two bunches of green onions and have no idea how to plant them. I’ve looked on the internet and this is the only site I could find. Could someone please help me out and tell me how I need to plant them. I would greatly appreciate it.
