We are in our property these days and we try to pruning the olive trees. I said “trying” because the weather is not so good with rain most of the time.

March was rainy and cloudy and most people around have a problem with olive trees pruning. Usually we are the last in pruning because we live far from here but this time I think we are from the first people. Some times we hear the noise of chain saw and see smoke around but not so often.

Our olive trees are in bad shape. My parents don’t know many things about olive pruning and all these years couldn’t prune the trees properly. This year I decide to start pruning alone and I cut really big branches to give the trees better shape.

It’s not easy because I don’t have chain saw and the pruning needs a lot of time.

My parents, after pruning, take the branches and continue the work. My mother cut the small branches and leaves from the bigger branches and my father burn the leaves. We collect the bigger branches after cleaning for firewood.

We never buy firewood here but ok we need them only some days in spring and autumn and the firewood from pruning is enough.

I hope for some sunny hours tomorrow to continue the pruning but the weather-forecast give me rain for the weekend….
