I don’t know If I’m crazy but I feel afraid from our life in city. I read blogs from other countries where people have backyards and allotments to grow foods. Here, in our big cities we don’t have backyards and we never had allotments in Greece. We can’t grow food. We live in appartments and we have big or small balcony. It’s difficult to grow food in pots.
I sow vegetable seeds but I have in my mind that I will transplanting them in my plot 100km from here. Some people have plots near the sea and they went there in summer and weekends. Other are from villages near the city and went there frequently. But the most people can’t have some land to grow food if they want.
It’s strange you know. My parents work with land when they were younger, they know how the food grow. For me it’s a purpose to learn and I can ask them some things. But… what about next generation?
I’m afraid that the next generation will know the food only from super market. And this is a Big Problem.
Yesterday I order some seeds from Ireland’s ebay. Well, ok the seeds was from UK, but I prefer to search in the Ireland’s ebay because they have Euro and it’s easiest for me to understand the prices. I can’t buy seeds online from USA but I can from European Union.
I choose seeds that we don’t have here like red carrots or yellow and cream tomatoes. I think It’s funny to grow unknown seeds and vegetables. It’s something like experiment, when you sow some strange seeds and wait to grow.
It’s time to sowing some seeds. Yesterday I put in the water pumpkin seeds (my mother’s tip) from last year’s pumpkin’s.

I choose to sow and some seeds I was buying yesterday like squash, brussels sprouts and cabbage. I found a plastic from supermarket, I suppose it used for fruits, and I thought it’s good to sowing seeds inside.

I think It’s good to use things like this to sow seeds. It’s free and you can reuse something that was garbage.

My seeds are under the sun now, the weather is very good in Greece today.
Today I buy new vegetable seeds. Most of them are organics and certified by BIO-Hellas. I think it’s difficult to find many certified organic seeds in Greece, but ok you can find some of them. Maybe it’s difficult for me to find them, because I live in big city. People can’t plant vegetables in big cities here.

I buy these seeds for my plot.

- Lettuce Great Lakes 118

I love my Jasmine. I have it 2 years and it was gift from a friend. Precious friend. I know her all my life I think, we grow together.

The flowerpot is too small and the jasmine has problem with this. It blossom last month and it was beautiful. But after this, the leaves change color from dark green to light green. I add some soil to the pot temporarily but now I must change the flowerpot. I buy one bigger today and it’s time to transplant it.

Wow! many roots inside and the soil was too clay.
