Patty Pan Squash seedlings
My “White Bush Scallop”or just Patty Pan Squash seedlings growing without problems. To be honest I am not sure when is the right month to sow these seeds because we don’t have this variety in my country. It’s something new for me.
Last year I was not so lucky with Patty Pan squash plants. I receive the seeds in June, I grow some plants in flowerpots, they give me many flowers the summer but no patty pans.I think I had only male flowers in my plants.
This year I sow the seeds early in spring and I hope they will give me some squashes. I feel curiosity about the taste of these vegetables. It’s something completely new for me.
Do you grow Patty Pans in flowerpots or containers? Do you grow Patty Pans anywhere in Mediterannean? When you sow patty pan seeds?
I have never heard of Patty Pan but I sure am going to look for them as well as check back to see what this seedling turns into. Thank sfor sharing.

I had only flowers last year and I hope this year for a squash. I have seen only photos from other people and I want to see it in my garden this year
I have grown them before. They grow like courgettes/zucchini so I assume they have male and female flowers and pollination would be important in order to get fruit. Hope you succeed with them this year!
I have never had any luck with Patty Pan either – the plants did grow but never got any fruit on them. Hope you have better luck with yours.

I have grown Patty Pans for many years, and never had a problem. The only problem I did have it took over the garden if let to run wild.
I have sometimes used a paint brush to fertilize the flowers if I have had a wet season. The plants require lots of organic compost and soil rich in neutrients. I use Greensand, Rock Phosphate, and Cow manure. I also dust my plants with diatomacous earth, to keep the squash borer at bay. I’d be glad to help you with raising this lovely squash.
