Last year I plant some celery roots, this year I had traditional organic celery seeds from a seed bank so I start my seeds and I have some seedlings.
I must cut some of them or transplant them in other pots because they are so many celery seedlings in this flowerpot now.
Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) is one aromatic Mediterranean plant that can reach one meter in height. It is self-sown evergreen plant in my country, but also cultivated in parks, gardens and in pots of balconies.
It belongs to the wider family of Lamiaceae with the lavender, the oregano, thyme, mint and marjoram. Rosemary blooms in spring and summer and the tiny blue flowers attract bees so is considered as excellent apiculture plant.
Oregano grew already in plot and we clean the area we have it from weeds so it was a good chance to take a photo.
The area we have oregano plants it’s about 4m X 5 m. We don’t sow oregano because it grows wild in plot but we transplant there some plants from other places of the plot every year.
Thyme is a well-known aromatic herb which grow uncultivated in Greece and Mediterranean usually. I said usually because we don’t have Thyme in North Greece where I live, we have oregano mostly here.
I think I had read somewhere that Thyme starts grow in the areas south of Mountain Olympus. Generally Thyme it prefers sunny place with well-drained soil.
Some people used to said that Greek oregano is the best oregano. I can’t add anything else about this. Hm… only that in the area of my plot I can harvest the absolutely best and flavour wild oregano.
I can’t buy oregano. I can’t use oregano from supermarket. I don’t like it and usually is old without the known flavour. My oregano from last year has most aroma from the oregano which usually sell in markets. For this reason I can understand how old are the oregano in markets.
